To celebrate 10 years of improving asthma management with their NObreath\u00ae FeNO monitor, Bedfont\u00ae Scientific Ltd. are giving you the chance to win a NObreath\u00ae at the ERS Congres<\/em><\/strong>s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarded as the largest gathering of respiratory professionals \nworldwide, this year the European Respiratory Society (ERS) will be \ncongregating in Milan between 9-13th September. Medical device \nmanufacturer, Bedfont\u00ae, who launched their NObreath\u00ae FeNO monitor, for \nimproving asthma management, at ERS 2007 are returning 10 years later to\n celebrate the 10th birthday of the NObreath\u00ae at the 2017 ERS \nCongress, by hosting a competition where one lucky winner can win their \nvery own monitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entrants simply have to take a NObreath\u00ae FeNO test and have their \nphoto taken with their FeNO reading to be included in the prize draw. \nAll participants will also receive a free gift and additional entries \ncan be gained by liking and sharing their picture on social media using \nthe hashtag #knowyourFeNO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using FeNO measurements to evaluate airway inflammation in asthma \nrepresents a significant advance in respiratory medicine[1], but until \nnow it has been an expensive test to deliver in everyday practice. \nRecommended by NICE[2] and conformed to ERS\/ATS guidelines[3], the \nNObreath\u00ae FeNO monitor is the essential tool for asthma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lois Penhaligan, Specialist Respiratory Physiologist, at the Lung Function Laboratory in Llandough, says,<\/strong>\n \u201cIt can be used with patients who have respiratory symptoms, \nparticularly with an unexplained cough and we are looking for the \npossible cause. The FeNO breath test is used for an assessment of airway\n inflammation, for the assessment of the effectiveness of a treatment, \nfor example, a bronchodilator and for the management of a disease, for \nexample, asthma.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jason Smith, General Manager at Bedfont Scientific Ltd, explains,<\/strong>\n \u201cNitric Oxide is naturally produced by the lungs to combat airway \ninflammation, therefore FeNO levels are higher in people with asthma \nand, by measuring these levels during diagnosis and management of the \ndisease, it can improve basic asthma care. By using the NObreath\u00ae FeNO \nmonitor in basic asthma care, the GP will be able to not only determine \nthe type of asthma (allergic or non-allergic) allowing the correct \nmedication to be prescribed but also differentiate between asthma and \nother respiratory conditions. Furthermore, the NObreath\u00ae shows patient \nadherence to medicine allowing GP\u2019s to adjust and prescribe the level of\n medication as necessary.
