The day also aims to increase awareness of cancer and to educate and encourage the world to donate, and help prevent cancer; a disease which claimed the lives of 8.2 million people worldwide in 2012 and is expected to claim up to 13 million by 2030 [1].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-exp1.licdn.com\/dms\/image\/C4E12AQEWTOsBiNm8JA\/article-inline_image-shrink_1000_1488\/0?e=1587600000&amp;v=beta&amp;t=IN2KSV8d1whs3u8PVd4buNp4NKzfn8j7iQa8T6OZuHY\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Statistics show that lung cancer is the \u201cleading cause of cancer death in men and the second leading cause in women\u201d but unfortunately \u201csmoking is by far the most important risk factor for lung cancer\u201d and the most preventable one (American Cancer Society, 2015) .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;A leading manufacturer of exhaled breath and gas monitoring instruments, who in 2016 are celebrating two important anniversaries \u2013 40 years in business and 30 years of one of their most successful exports \u2013 the Smokerlyzer, Bedfont Scientific are revered as pioneers in the medical gas analysis market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Jason Smith, General Manager at Bedfont, comments,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe Smokerlyzer is a breath analysis monitor that detects the harmful amount of carbon monoxide (CO) in your lungs, and therefore your blood, that is inhaled from smoking.
