It will be used in a clinical study at the \nMaastricht University to investigate whether or not a reward makes \nsmoking cessation more effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, CATCH (Continuous Abstinence Through Corporate \nHealthcare), run by Prof. Dr. C. P. van Schayck and Dr. G. E. Nagelhout,\n will take several Dutch companies partaking in Smoking Cessation \nprogrammes, however only half of the subjects will receive gift \ncertificates for their efforts.[1] <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Smokerlyzer\u00ae range is a series of carbon monoxide (CO) monitors\n that measures the harmful amount of CO that is inhaled from smoking, \nwhich can show how much a patient has been smoking, giving smoking \ncessation advisors an idea on the level of dependency that the smoker \nhas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-exp1.licdn.com\/dms\/image\/C4E12AQE16-rbp9zEXw\/article-inline_image-shrink_1500_2232\/0?e=1587600000&amp;v=beta&amp;t=2cNcxORPx2rQ2JxEviObYHt-aDtTBsOHsTZlmkGxfjI\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sinefuma, a Smokerlyzer\u00ae distributor for Bedfont, is the biggest smoking cessation company in the Netherlands.<strong> Marcel Clarijs, director at SineFuma, explains, <\/strong>\u00abIt\n is beautiful that we can work together with the university and \nparticipate in research to find how we can get more succesfull quitters.\n We ran the smoking cessation programme within this study and were able \nto provide them with useful Smokerlyzer\u00ae monitors so they can validate \nthe success rates. This CATCH project consisted of about 60 group \ntrainings with 50 different companies to help employees to quit smoking.\n Roughly 600 people participated in total and now over the next 3 years \nthe university will do the research.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jason Smith, Managing Director at Bedfont, adds,<\/strong> \n\u201cThe Smokerlyzer\u00ae has been used globally for over 30 years now to help \npeople quit smoking \u2013 it is quick, easy and non-invasive making it a \nvaluable tool to monitor a quit attempt, as well as being a motivational\n visual aid to encourage the user to quit smoking.
