Local \nmedical device manufacturer, Bedfont, has been taking strides to improve\n their employee well-being, and their latest project is a new break-out \nroom, which will be opened by Lucy Tomlinson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the latest figures from the Mental Health at Work \nreport, \u201c60% of employees have experienced a mental health problem due \nto work or where work was a contributing factor at some point in their \ncareer\u201d1, making employee well-being a key issue that businesses are now\n striving to address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday 3rd May, Bedfont\u2019s latest idea was brought to life; a \nbreak-out room for employees to eat, relax, and hang out. The break-out \nroom is simply an area set aside from the busy offices where staff can \neat their lunch, chill on the beanless bags, receive PEMF therapy, and \neven play table tennis or uno!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-exp1.licdn.com\/dms\/image\/C4E12AQFIP_dzNiGFRA\/article-inline_image-shrink_1500_2232\/0?e=1587600000&amp;v=beta&amp;t=3m6txTwVMehwoD4O0DcVDMOCBMCd1obrBZllHwFKtRg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For the past couple of years, Bedfont has taken several other \nmeasures to help contribute to improving employee well-being and morale.\n This includes organising more physical activities, providing a wide \nrange of fruit, celebrating achievements with employee of the month and \nyear awards, workiversary celebrations and a flexi-hours scheme. \nFurthermore, now that the warmer months are arriving, the weekly walks \nand after-work fitness classes are recommencing, all which promote a \nhealthy lifestyle, plus boost well-being and mentality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Bedfont has appointed 2 Well-being Warriors, Jade and \nNiki, to make sure that this healthy trend continues and to come up with\n more new and inspiring ways to motivate everyone and get people moving.\n Their first act was to gift the Bedfont family with their own \npersonalised water bottles complete with a hydration tracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jason Smith, Managing Director, says, <\/strong>\u201cWe are more\n than just a company, we are the Bedfont family, and I feel personally \nresponsible for the health and well-being of everyone here. Of course, \nwe offer the traditional benefits such as healthcare, but I believe it \nis the strategies we have put in place to care for our employees above \nand beyond the standard that makes them feel happy and at ease whilst at\n work. This new break-out room will hopefully encourage more employees \nto socialise and take a break when it&#8217;s needed; I know all too well how \neasy it is to lock yourself away working and without a break, even \neating lunch at my desk. This is something I\u2019d like to change because it\n is very easy to get stressed and bogged down which can, in turn, affect\n your health.
