{"id":135,"date":"2018-12-10T09:54:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T09:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bedfont.com\/wp\/?p=135"},"modified":"2018-12-10T09:54:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T09:54:00","slug":"local-company-bedfont-creates-a-reverse-advent-calendar-for-the-homeless","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bedfont.com\/de\/local-company-bedfont-creates-a-reverse-advent-calendar-for-the-homeless\/","title":{"rendered":"Local company, Bedfont, creates a reverse advent calendar for the homeless"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Bedfont gets into the giving spirit this Christmas with their reverse advent calendar<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christmas is the time for giving, and that\u2019s exactly what the \nKent-based company decided to do this year with their reverse advent \ncalendar.&nbsp;A popular idea this year, the reverse advent calendar requires\n you to put in a gift instead of receiving one and the 2nd generation \nfamily business donated their reverse advent calendar to the homeless \nwith the help of their Charity of the Year, Porchlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Porchlight found 834 people sleeping rough in Kent &#8211; 5 \nyears ago that number was 148, indicating an alarming 463% increase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kate Boulding, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Porchlight, comments, <\/strong>\u201cWe\n are so grateful for the support from Bedfont Scientific Ltd. this year.\n As well as collecting useful items for their reverse advent calendars \nand making sure our service users feel valued this Christmas, they have \nalso put loads of effort into their fundraising, which will go towards \nvital services and help Porchlight bring more homeless and vulnerable \npeople in from the cold. It can be a difficult time of year for the \npeople we support, so with the help of local companies like Bedfont, we \ncan make Christmas a little brighter for them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jason Smith, Managing Director, adds, <\/strong>\u201cThe \nrocketing number of homeless people is a growing concern and through the\n reverse advent calendar and fundraising for Porchlight, we hope that as\n a local company we can help give back to the community as well as raise\n awareness.
