Rogue CO monitor called the BMC-2000
Following complaints from Stop Smoking Services across the country regarding a rogue CO monitor called the BMC-2000, provided by UBLOW Ltd, an independent report has concluded that the ‘BMC-2000 CO monitor should not be sold or used in the UK/EU for medical smoking cessation applications’.
The main shocking discoveries were that the sensor used is for industrial use and therefore has an extremely high cross-sensitivity to hydrogen, causing the false positives reported by the stop smoking services. Also the mouthpiece adaptors do not create a full seal leading to poor infection control.
UBLOW have failed to comment on the inefficiencies of the BMC-2000 CO monitor and have refused to refund any of the NHS money spent in the process of purchasing them.
