Bedfont Scientific helping smokers to stay off cigarettes
The NHS Stop Smoking Service in England has released startling figures showing the number of people quitting smoking between April and September 2007 has increased by 28% on the same period last year. These are the first figures to show the impact of the smoking ban in public places which came into effect on the 1st July.
At their four week follow-up 167,711 people had successfully quit. This is quantified by a successful CO validation. CO validation measures the level of carbon monoxide in the bloodstream and provides an indication of the level of use of tobacco. Bedfont Scientific, based in Rochester, Kent have been recognised as world leaders in the production of breath CO monitors for over twenty years.
The Company manufacture a range of breath monitors, including the popular Smokerlyzer range of products, which is the most comprehensive range of devices currently available, including the affordable COmpact Smokerlyzer, the Micro for clinical research, the latest piCO+, popular with smoking cessation clinics, pharmacies and hospitals, and the Smokerlyzer System for personal use.
The Smokerlyzer System for use by individuals consists of a personal CO tester which gives an indication of smoking status through 7 level indicators. Rather than indicating the number of cigarettes or cigars smoked the reading shows more about the patient’s habit and nicotine dependence. The pack also contains a comprehensive Stop Smoking manual written specifically for the Smokerlyzer by Nicola Willis MSc, an expert in stop smoking techniques.
“The monitor shows smokers the kind of damage they are doing to their health and wellbeing and acts as a great visual incentive to aid smoking cessation,” says Bedfont MD Trevor Smith.
The system has been designed to work alongside any Stop Smoking Clinic you may attend and with any NRT being used. The Smokerlyzer System is a cost effective way to ensure that you successfully quit and shows real results by reducing the CO level in your breath.
The quitting plan is based on clinical research and will guide you through your first four weeks by monitoring your progress and helping to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms. There is also a helpful A-Z section containing answers to all your questions about quitting.
The Smokerlyzer System is only £29 and will help you towards a healthy, happier smoke free future. For more information or to purchase the personal Smokerlyzer System please contact our sales team on 01634 673720 or by going on-line to our dedicated website www.stubitoutnow.com.
