BEDFONT CHARITY QUIZ NIGHT A COMPLETE SUCCESS
Bedfont employees test their knowledge for Asthma UK
On Saturday, 8th May, 2010, Bedfont Scientific employees tested their knowledge in a quiz night at Sandling Lane Village Hall, Maidstone, to raise money for their Asthma UK Three Peaks Challenge campaign.
A total of 63 employees, family members and friends took part. The team that scooped the first place was led by Bedfont employee and Three Peaks Challenge participant Glen Hillsley. The evening also featured a raffle, with many prizes donated by local companies including a meal and tickets to the Comedy Club at Bridgewood Manor, a wine tasting day at Chapel Down Vineyard and Winery, Odeon cinema tickets and day trips to Leeds Castle and the Hop Farm.
Much fun was had by all and the evening was a complete success. Overall, the evening raised £710, taking our total to £1,913.50. But there is still some work to do to reach our minimum target of £2,700.
Bedfont’s Three Peaks Challenge attempt will begin at the crack of dawn on Saturday, 5th June, 2010. The intrepid team will first take on Scotland’s Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak at 1,343 metres. Next comes the Lake District’s Scafell Pike, which rises to 978 metres and is the highest mountain in England. The last leg of the journey will take the team to Wales’ highest mountain, Snowdon, at 1,085 metres. The aim is to scale all three mountains within just 24 hours.
The Bedfont team has been working hard to raise as much money as possible. The team would like to thank all of the people and companies that have sponsored them. If you would like to support Bedfont’s Three Peaks Challenge attempt in aid of Asthma UK, you can make a donation at www.JustGiving.com/BedfontScientificLtd3peakschallenge.
Managing Director Trevor Smith said: “Taking on the Three Peaks Challenge will be a huge challenge, both mentally and physically, but the fact that we are raising money for Asthma UK makes it all worthwhile.
“Bedfont is committed to supporting research into asthma and we have helped to make a difference with our NObreath monitors, which provide sufferers with a quick, easy and affordable way to monitor their condition from day to day”.
“The money we are raising will help Asthma UK to continue their vital work. I am really proud of the way the team has pulled together to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause.”
