Breath Methane (CH4) Monitoring
Helping Detect Gastro-intestinal Disorders

The GastroCH4ECK™ portable breath CH4, H2 and O2 monitor allows health professionals to accurately detect a range of gastrointestinal disorders. An O2 reading is taken to motivate patients into providing an end-tidal sample. If they are unable to do this the GastroCH4ECK™ will automatically correct the reading saving the patient from embarrassment and having to carry out another test.

Applications
The GastroCH4ECK combined methane and hydrogen breath test can be used to detect
- Carbohydrate Breakdown Deficiency
- Carbohydrate Malabsorbtion
- Lactose Intolerance
- Bacterial Overgrowth
- Determination of time passage through gut
How it works
Hydrogen is produced when bacteria in the gut act on undigested carbohydrates such as lactose and fructose in the large or small intestine. The hydrogen diffuses into the blood and is carried to the alveoli in the lungs. A hydrogen breath test can then detected the amount of hydrogen in expiratory air.
The GastroCH4ECK hydrogen and methane breath test instantly and accurately measures the amount of hydrogen in a single expired breath. Patients simply breathe into the mouthpiece and the result is displayed instantly on the touch screen. The GastroCH4ECK is a simple and affordable alternative to the traditional hydrogen breath test and invasive procedures such as biopsies.
Disposable mouthpieces, an integrated anti-bacterial filter and one-way valve ensure that the GastroCH4ECK is user friendly, safe and reliable.

In all my 30 years as a consultant I have never had such an incredible piece of apparatus. It never fails (apart from the rare need for a new battery). I wish other medical equipment was so robust and dependable.
